Dennis Lee Marshala, 67, of Choctaw, OK passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday, August 23, 2017, with his loved ones at his side.

Dennis was born November 7, 1949, in Keene, NH, son of Augustine and Phyllis (Kelly) Marshala. After graduating from Monadnock Regional High School in 1967, he attended DeVry Technical Institute until 1969, whereupon he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. It was the USAF that eventually led him to Oklahoma in 1970, where he set down roots with his new bride and high school sweetheart.

After concluding his service in the USAF in 1974, Dennis focused on what would become his lifelong passions: racing and being his own boss. In the 1970's he was a regular entry at the Friday night super-modified races as the OKC Fairgrounds and Saturday nights at the Grady County Fairgrounds in Chickasha. He took a break from racing in 1980 to focus on building a successful machine shop in the oil and gas industry but later rediscovered that passion for racing in 2008. At the time of his death, he was well-known within the American Sprint Car Series (ASCS) National circuit and was an active sponsor of several drivers.

Dennis was an imaginative and visionary entrepreneur. He was able to persevere through the all-to familiar busts of the oil and gas industry with a business that continues to endure after 30 years.

In addition to racing, he loved to fish with his buddies and was a sponsor of fishing outings with the Cavett Kids Foundation.

He leaves his wife of 46 years, Lyn (Dyer) Marshala; children, Jennifer Allen and husband Joel, Sarah Lanz and husband Rob, Andrew Marshala; siblings, Kathryn Belaire and husband Joel, Philip Marshala and wife Cathy Compton, Peter Marshala and wife Rebecca, Bruce Marshala and wife Mary; grandchildren Orion Marshala, Genevieve Marshala, Eleanor Lanz, Violet Lanz, and a host of relatives and friends.

Arrangements under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, Del City, Oklahoma.
